Welcome to our world!
Here you will find all kinds of information about who we are and what we do as entomologists based in New Zealand, specialising on ground-beetles (Coleoptera: Carabidae including Cicindelini) and bugs (Hemiptera).
Our Mission
To live with integrity in the moment, to share our passion and love for nature, and to make a difference in the lives of others by dedicating our time, talents and resources to:
reach an overall understanding of the New Zealand carabid and bug faunas as soon as possible (about 1000 species or 10% of the New Zealand insect fauna);
make available large amounts of baseline information on the taxonomy, geographic distribution, and natural history of these groups for practical use by a wide range of end-users;
provide a floorplan for more detailed taxonomic, ecological, biogeographical, and evolutionary studies on this unique isolated component of the world insect fauna.

There is a pleasure in the pathless woods,
There is a rapture on the lonely shore,
There is society, where none intrudes,
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but nature more.
Lord Byron 1788-1824: Childe Harold's Pilgrimage (1818)
